Google.cn (2005-2010) R.I.P.

Tiananmen Square - Google

Update: Google.cn is no more. Google is now redirecting google.cn to google.com.hk which is hosted in Hong Kong.

You may want to capture a screenshot image of google.cn and preserve it as a record for your future generations because, if these reports are true, Google may announce as early as “today” that they are retreating from the land of the dragon:

Google could terminate all business activities in China. This would include closing down both its joint venture running Google.cn and its wholly-owned research subsidiary. More than 300 engineers and another 300 local sales staff in Beijing and Guangzhou would lose their jobs.

The uncensored Chinese language edition of Google will still be available through the main Google.com website but they might have to close the Google.cn domain.
