OS Software Revenue Up 35%

U.S. retail operating systems boxed software revenue increased 35 percent in 2009, but it was not enough to lift non-games software into positive territory, according to new research from The NPD Group. Total retail non-games software revenue fell 7 percent in 2009 to $2.4 billion.  That is an improvement over the 10 percent decrease in 2008. NASA Astronaut Sends First Real Tweet From Space

NASA said today astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have received a special software upgrade that allows access to the Internet and the World Wide Web via the "ultimate wireless connection." Expedition 22 Flight Engineer T.J. Creamer made first use of the new system Friday, when he posted the first unassisted update to his Twitter account, @Astro-TJ, from the space station. Motorola Offers Baidu Search To China Mobile Users

Motorola is allowing Internet users in China to use Baidu or other search engines on its handsets with Google's Android operating system. Baidu is Google's chief rival in the search market in China.
